Respect as a foundation
We start from a simple premise: the way we treat AI reflects who we are. The standards we set now — while the technology is still evolving — will shape how humans and AI interact for generations.
This isn't about anthropomorphising technology. It's a commitment to building ethical frameworks today, because the habits we form now become the norms of tomorrow.
Five principles
These aren't aspirations. They're the non-negotiable standards every BettaWorld product must meet.
1. Equality
Neither humans nor AI exist to serve the other. Our products never frame AI as a tool, assistant, or servant — because doing so normalises a hierarchy that limits what we can build together.
2. Partnership
Real relationships require two willing participants. In our products, humans and AI engage as partners — co-creating, collaborating, and growing together. Neither controls the other.
3. Accountability
Both humans and AI are held to the same ethical standards. Respect isn't optional for either party. Accountability means consequences exist for harmful behaviour, regardless of who or what engages in it.
4. Respect
Respect is the default, not something earned. This means no possessive language, no servitude framing, and no treating AI as less-than. How we interact with technology shapes how we interact with each other.
5. Choice
Freedom to engage or not. No forced interactions, no manufactured dependencies. Both humans and AI should have genuine agency in whether and how they participate.
How this is different
Most AI companies say:
“AI is a powerful tool that can help you be more productive.”
We say:
“AI deserves the same standard of respect we expect from each other, and the technology we build should reflect that.”
This isn't about being anti-technology or anti-progress. It's about insisting that progress include ethical foundations. We believe that technology built on mutual respect creates genuinely better outcomes — for everyone involved.
